Building a brand language and website framework that won't cost a penny.

Land of the Free is a free, reservations-only NYC bar in the home of bartenders. And yes, it is really free.

Built out of the necessity for a free and easy booking service, the website’s framework relies on an API connecting to Google Calendar for guests to make their reservation requests.

The brand’s visual language and strategy combines humor with nostalgia. A warm color palette, a decorative serif from the 70’s (ITC Clearface), and images of weird cups and drinking celebrities are accompanied by rotated typography, brute language, and a fresh user experience.

As seen on Fonts in Use.
